4 Keys To A Successful Global ERP Implementation

Written by FullQuota Editor | Mar 4, 2014 12:00:00 AM

Implementing global ERP means you’ll have a single, integrated system at several locations, sometimes around the world. The size of such a system can require a great deal of planning and be more complicated than single-site ERP, but with planning and cloud technology, such a system often is an invaluable tool for greater efficiency and reduced costs.

An article on ERPfocus.com offers four keys to consider when implementing a global ERP system.

  1. Consolidate reporting through the use of a single system: Using a single database means users around the world are logging into the same system with the same data and generating accurate reports quickly. By eliminating disparate reporting processes, global ERP increases efficiency while ridding your database of confusing and conflicting data.
  2. Streamline and standardize your workflows: “Global ERP will also help unify the entire business by enabling and simplifying the use of best practices globally,” the article notes. Errors are going to be reduced if all users have the ability to enter data and manage processes from the same entry forms into the same database.
  3. Tailor your training for each location: If the implementation of global ERP is replacing several disparate systems, which is often the case, each location is going to need a unique implementation and training process. It’s important to be sensitive to these differences and plan accordingly to transition each team to the new ERP system.
  4. Speak the language: Naturally, there is likely going to be a need for a multilingual ERP system if your company has locations in several countries. If that’s the case, some cloud ERP systems offer multilingual technology features that translate your system into each language you choose at no extra cost.

When implemented properly, a global ERP system should foster cooperation among locations, decrease costs and errors, and increase visibility for top-level management into the health and success of the business.
