Replaces Multiple Systems
with a Single Application to Lower Cost, Speed
Operations, and Reduce Errors
Company Profile
Founded in 1980, Qosina is a Long Island-based company that supplies
components to the medical, cosmetic, cleanroom, veterinary, and
pharmaceutical industries worldwide. They offer a full selection of
clamps, connectors, luers, caps, stopcocks, checkvalves, spikes, kit
components and adapters. Qosina is the parent company of Qosmedix - a
leading supplier to the cosmetic, skin care and spa industries.
Project Background
and Goals
Qosina
carries thousands of different items in stock and ships hundreds of
orders each day - typically shipping the same day that the order is
received. They were running their order processing, packaging, and
shipping processes with 5 separate software applications, requiring a
significant number of manual operations to enter and re-enter
information into each one. Additionally, the company relied on a
paper-based inventory system to provide customers with product
availability information and estimated shipping date. In 2002, Qosina
recognized that they could lower cost, speed up operations, and reduce
errors by installing and using a single fully-integrated business
solution.
Solution
Implementation
Qosina
selected Business Solutions Partners to help them select, install,
customize, and integrate their new business application. Microsoft
Business Solutions eEnterprise was selected as the best application to
meet Qosina's needs. Working closely together, the Qosina and BSP teams
used the new software application to create a seamless process flow from
order entry, to logistics, to picking, packing, and shipping the
product. To accomplish this, the original 5 separate applications were
either replaced entirely or integrated tightly with eEnterprise. In
addition, Qosina's original paper-based inventory system was replaced
with real-time inventory reporting from eEnterprise and Microsoft SQL
Server, the database selected for the system. There are now 30
concurrent users interfacing with the new business application at Qosina.
Benefits Realized
At the
conclusion of the project, Qosina accomplished all of its goals. The
financial accounting and order processing system was installed and
customized to be compatible with Qosina's unique business processes.
They are now planning to integrate their Web site with their product
database. This will allow them to publish real-time product
information, accept orders online, and provide customer service
information online. Additionally, BSP and Qosina are planning to select
and implement a totally integrated CRM application into their business
process. Specific benefits realized by Qosina as a result of the
